Director Message

Adhering strictly to our motto, ‘Enlighten to Excel’ and following the footprints of our patron, St Kuriakose Elias Chavara, we, at Christ College, believe that a great responsibility is vested on us, as educators of the modern world. Ever since the inception of this college, we have been striving hard to comprehend the broad significance of education while designing our mode of instruction. We mentor our students to sharpen their intelligence and enable them to accomplish their aspirations. Simultaneously, we instil in them a positive value system that shapes their attitude, outlook and conduct, that provides a strong foundation for them to tackle the challenges of life.
We procure the support of a strong team of faculty members, who wholeheartedly put their efforts to motivate our students and guide them to progress at every step. In a conducive learning environment at our serene campus, we nurture champions, who, with intellectual brilliance and ethical excellence, emerge out as leaders with a difference!
In the year 2016-17, we are heading towards the tenth year of our existence in Pune. It is the collective effort of many and the vision of the CMI congregation that helped us achieve this milestone. With profound gratitude to God and sincere acknowledgement to all our well-wishers, we are marching ahead, exploring further opportunities for our students to learn and grow. It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you to the portal of this academic milieu to have a unique educational experience.

Principal Message
The first thing I’d like you to know about Taradale High School is that we give our students permission to dream big things. Our Mission is to nurture individual potential. We believe in cultivating intelligence and talent. Rather than being fixed and finite, intelligence and talent will expand and grow, given the right encouragement. So we aim to keep students’ dreams and aspirations alive.
We are doing all we can to ensure that when students eventually leave school, they will do so as confident, caring young people, who are creative, collaborative, and committed to their learning. Our values of respect, integrity, curiosity, and excellence, are behind everything we do as a staff and as a school.
Our students and staff are motivated and inspired to consolidate recent successes in NCEA. Results have improved steadily since 2009. Pass rates have risen, and NCEA endorsements with merit and excellence have increased with them. In most years, we exceed NCEA pass rates for decile 8-10 schools. In other words, we usually beat the averages for all of the most advantaged schools in the country. Furthermore, our boys are achieving alongside the best results of state schools in Hawke’s Bay, with our girls achieving second best.
Our students are happy here. They have a huge number of opportunities in sports and creative pursuits. They enjoy being in a co-ed environment, where the girls tone down the aggressive nature of boys, and the boys tone down the competitive nature of girls. They complement each other. Their work and discussions are enriched because they often see the world through different eyes.
Where once we had high numbers of stand downs and suspensions, we now have low rates of discipline incidents. Attendance is high. Our students are enjoying their learning. They know we believe in their abilities, that we grow their capacity to learn, and that they’re respected here.
One of the things said universally by our school community is that there are strong relationships between staff and students. Positive relationships are also evident in the visionary work of the Board of Trustees and the energy of our busy Parent Teacher Association.
We are committed to nurturing each student’s potential. We are committed to excellence of educational delivery. We are committed to assisting students to exercise genuine respect for others, nurturing them to develop healthy relationships and to become responsible citizens.
We are a decile 7, Year 9 – 13 school with 940 domestic students and 40 fee-paying international students. Do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any aspect of the thriving life of Taradale High School, and for enrolment information.
